The CSCEC-built Shenzhen International Museum of Art officially opened recently.

The museum brings together 15 international-standard exhibition halls, a 700-seat indoor theater with an outdoor counterpart, a 200-seat lecture hall and an art documentation center. It serves as a comprehensive platform for academic research, exhibition planning, public education, art collection and international exchange.

The building is inspired by the concept of "sailing together in the same boat."Two "arks" sit side by side, with a steel structure weighing 16,400 tonnes. To raise a massive 165-tonne mega beama height of several dozen meters with precision, the project team used hydraulic synchronous lifting technology.

To deliver the design's clean aesthetic, the team adopted technologies of carbon fiber cable curtain wall for the first time in China. The innovation has earned the project a first prize at the 4th "New City Construction Cup" International BIM/ CIM Application Competition, along with more than 10 other honors.

Inside the museum, a 38-meter-tall fair-faced concrete wall demands millimeter-level precision. The team fine-tuned the concrete mix and used custom formwork made of Korean pine from northeast China, completing 13,000 square meters of fair-faced concrete. The finished wall carries no decoration and no joints, capturing the raw texture of the material in its purest form.

The "Moon Gate" in the main hall weaves together hundreds of metal cables and acrylic panels. Lit to mimic the waxing and waning of the new moon and full moon, it is set to become a popular photo spot for visitors.
