Butuka Academy of Papua New Guinea (PNG), which is built by CSCEC, is located at the suburb of Port Moresby, the capital of PNG. The school covers an area of 48,000 square meters, including a primary school, a middle school, a kindergarten, teacher apartments, a modern football field, a multi-functional auditorium, and 20 bus shelters distributed on the main municipal roads of Port Moresby.
The school buildings are prefabricated with high safety standards, green technologies, environmental protection and good earthquake-resistant design. The project adopts industrial construction method, which has the following three advantages: firstly, the building integration rate and the work efficiency is increased by more than 50%; secondly, the construction pollution is decreased and the construction waste is reduced by more than 50%; and thirdly, the comfort of the building is increased and the space of the building is added by 10%. The construction methods have provided reference for green prefabricated buildings in PNG.
CSCEC not only brings a school to PNG, but also the advanced technology. In terms of its design, and according to climatic and lcoal conditions, the project combines Chinese architectural elements with traditional local buildings, and green technologies have been applied comprehensively in five aspects including land saving, energy saving, water saving, and building materials saving, as well as the indoor environment management. Through various designs, the building itself is more ecological and environmentally friendly on the premise of fully meeting the building's functional and practical needs.
