CSCEC launched the Advanced Attosecond Laser Infrastructure, which includes facilities in Dongguan of Guangdong Province and Xi'an of Shaanxi Province. The construction in Guangdong started recently. Once completed, it will become the first of its kind in Asia and the second in the world.
The project, located in Dongguan, Guangdong Province, covers a total construction area of approximately 38,000 square meters. It includes the construction of the attosecond device building, an experimental center, a center for precision optics processing, power stations, and other facilities. This project aims to provide cutting-edge support for research in such fields as physics, chemistry, and materials science.
As a unit of time, one attosecond is one-quintillionth of a second. The attosecond laser is a key technology for observing and studying electron motion. When completed, this project will offer state-of-the-art research facilities, fostering the widespread application of attosecond laser in fundamental science, technological innovation, industrial upgrading and other fields.
