Constructed by CSCEC, Doraleh Multi-Purpose Port Phase I is the largest port built by a Chinese-funded enterprise in Northeast Africa so far. The project officially started in August 2014 and its annual cargo throughout capacity is 7.08 million tons and 200,000 TEUs.

Since the start of the project, the builders of CSCEC have overcome the difficulties in environment, living and production resources, carefully organized the construction and completed the main wharf, the buildings and road yards in the contract with amazing speed, laying a solid foundation for the trial operation and official opening of the port.
