1982 - 1989

China State Construction Engineering Corporation (shortened as CSCEC) was formally established on June 11, 1982.

From July 3 to 5, 1984, the CSCEC reform seminar was held in Beijing, at which CSCEC signed Letter of Economic Responsibilities 1984 with chiefs of eight engineering bureaus directly under CSCEC. This was the first time that CSCEC had implemented the "contractual management responsibility" system nationwide.

On July 18, 1985, the famous American magazine Engineering News Record published its 1984 ranking of "Top 225 Word Contractors", where CSCEC ranked 21th for its overseas turnover of US$824 million. December 10, China Construction America Inc. was incorporated in the State of Delaware.

In October 1988, CSCEC held a seminar on learning from Lubuge experience in Wuhan, which proposed that the implementation of Lubuge project be an important part of the reform in construction enterprises.

On November 28, 1987, China Architecture Enterprise Association presented the Luban Prize for 12 Construction Projects for the first time. The Shenzhen International Trade Center project contracted by Shenzhen First Construction and Installation Engineering Company of CSCEC Third Construction Bureau Co., Ltd. , was awarded the first Luban Prize for Construction Projects.

1990-1999

On April 18,1990, the former China Kanghua Urban Design Institute was assigned to CSCEC and renamed as China Construction Beijing Design Research Institute.

On February 4, 1991, CSCEC issued a stipulation of printing and wearing "CSCEC" logo. This logo takes the form of a square, symbolizing a solid building foundation; the blue background symbolizes blue sky and ocean, indicating the integrated operation at home and abroad; the English letters "CSCEC" is the abbreviation of CHINA STATE CONSTRUCTION ENGINEERING CORPORATION, representing an architectural image.

On August 4-7,1992, China Overseas Holdings Co., Ltd. (COHL) and its subsidiary China Overseas Land & Investment Ltd. were listed in HKEX, offering RMB820 million new shares at HK$1.03 per share and raising a total of HK$845 million.

On January 7,1993, CSCEC formulated the Outline for Development of the Tertiary Industry during the "8th Five-Year Plan (Draft), stating: By 1995, the main economic and technological targets of the tertiary industry would reach RMB3.22 billion in turnover, a three-fold increase over 1990.

On June 7,1994, the Chinese Academy of Engineering announced the list of the first group of academicians (96 persons), including Zhang Jinqiu, chief architect of China Northwest Architecture Design and Research Institute and master of national engineering survey and design.

On June 21, 1995, the Group was founded based on CSCEC and other enterprises. CSCEC immediately convened a meeting of 37 wholly-owned and holding members to formulate the Articles of Association of CSCEC and proceed with industrial and commercial registration.

In June 1996, CSCEC introduced the CI strategy to conduct CI design and promotion for corporate enhancement in internal qualities and external image.

In March 1997, CSCEC convened a computer work conference, requiring realization of three-level computer network in five years. In 1997, computer networking was basically completed at CSCEC Headquarters.

In April 1999, the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Base contracted by China Construction Eighth EngineeringDivision Corp. Ltd was awarded the "First Prize for National Science and Technology Progress".

2000-2009

In December 2000, CSCEC issued the Behavioral Recognition Handbook of CSCEC and the Concept Recognition Handbook of CSCEC.

On May 28,2001, CSCEC Headquarters moved to the new office building at No.15 Sanlihe Road, Haidian District, Beijing. Since 2001, CSCEC has implemented the annual salary system for all operators of wholly-owned and holding enterprises.

In December, 2002, CSCEC put forward for the first time the internationalization strategic goal to build CSCEC into the most competitive Chinese construction enterprise group, and make CSCEC be listed into the world's top 500 of global operation and top 10 international famous contractors by 2010.

On November 22, 2004, CSCEC and Shanghai Construction Group (SCG) jointly won the bid for Shanghai World Financial Center (SWFC) project, which was the first time for domestic construction enterprises to independently contract foreign skyscrapers.

On July 12, 2006, Fortune announced the list of the largest 500 companies in the world in 2006, and CSCEC ranked 486th, four years ahead of schedule to achieve one of the two strategic goals, i.e. entering the Fortune 500 construction enterprises.

On December 8, 2007, the founding meeting of China State Construction Engrg. Corp. Ltd. was held in Beijing, which marked the successful completion of the overall restructuring of the former CSCEC and also marked the birth of this super-large modern construction real estate enterprise group with perfect system, international standard and full of market competition.

May 12, 2008, Wenchuan earthquake erupted. In the earthquake relief process, China Construction provided assistance in construction of 1.1 million square meters of temporary houses in Sichuan and Gansu, which ranked 1st nationwide. In recent years, China Construction has completed 51 projects and still has 71 projects under construction in earthquake-stricken areas in China, the main structure of which stayed solid. In the construction of Beijing Olympic Games stadiums, CSCEC undertook 40% of the venues and supporting facilities.

At 9:28am on July 29, 2009, China State Construction Engrg. Corp. Ltd (China Construction, stock code: 601668) was officially listed on Shanghai Stock Exchange - Chinese capital market, raising RMB50.16 billion of funds.

2010-present

In September 2010, China Construction applied to the State Trademark Office for registration of 45 trademarks perspectival of "China Construction" and "China Construction + CSCEC"; ever since then, "China Construction" became the registered trademark of China State Construction Engrg. Corp. Ltd.

In February 2011, during Libyan war, China Construction successfully organized evacuation of 10,241 CSCEC employees and 957 Bangladeshi and Vietnamese workers from Libya.

On December 19,2013, the Chinese Academy of Engineering announced the elected academicians in 2013, and Comrade Xiao Xuwen from CSCEC was elected academician.

On April 4, 2014, China Construction America Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary of China Construction, completed M&A of Plaza Construction in the United States. This was the first overseas M&A transaction of China Construction.

On October 30, 2015, the three leading international credit rating agencies unanimously awarded China State Construction Engrg. Corp. Ltd (China Construction, 601668) the world's highest credit rating in the industry, i.e. A by S&P, A2 by Moody and by Fitch A, all of which have a stable outlook.

On January 21, 2016, Chinese President Xi Jinping and Egyptian President Sessie witnessed the signing of a US$2.7 billion contract for construction of the new Egyptian capital.

On January 19, 2017, China Construction's work conference in 2017 proposed its goal of the year 2030: "1211".

In December 2017, CSCEC was restructured and renamed as China State Construction Engineering Corporation Limited (CSCEC).
