Recently, CSCEC hosted the 3rd China-Egypt Sustainable Building and Construction Forum in Cairo under the theme "Co-Building the New Future of Global Supply Chains."
The forum brought together more than 150 experts from institutions including Egypt's Ministry of Housing, Utilities and Urban Communities, the Chinese Embassy in Egypt, the Administrative Capital for Urban Development, and the Housing and Building National Research Center (HBRC). Together, they discussed ways to develop supply chains for international construction projects and explore new approaches to sustainable development in the construction sector.

The forum is one of the key initiatives under CSCEC's "UP WE BUILD" program. Previous editions focused on sustainable construction in 2023 and smart and livable cities in 2025. This year, the focus shifted to strengthening supply chain capacity for international projects. The forum has become a platform for the construction industries of China and Egypt to share experience, promote collaboration among industry, universities and research institutions, and advance cooperation.

CSCEC entered the Egyptian market in 1983. It has since undertaken major projects, including the CBD project in New Administrative Capital and the Alamein Downtown Towers in New Alamein City. Through close cooperation with local partners, the company has learned that a reliable supply chain depends not only on efficient coordination at every stage but also on trust built over many years.
The forum covered five topics: standardized design and supply chain coordination; supply chain development and local capacity building; innovation in construction and supply chains; digital upgrades for international project supply chains; and building a green and sustainable ecosystem for international project cooperation.
Participants explored how design, procurement and construction can work together more smoothly, and how local resource development, digital technology and green, low-carbon growth can reinforce one another.
During the keynote session, a representative of HBRC shared insights into industry development and supply chain building. Scholars from Cairo University and Ain Shams University presented research and innovative applications in construction project supply chain management.
A representative of the construction supervising agency DAR discussed supply chain coordination from a designer's perspective. Representatives of Yunzhu, CSCEC's e-commerce platform, and SIAC shared their experience in developing a collaborative supply chain ecosystem and promoting local procurement. A representative of Huawei Egypt discussed how digital technology can foster collaboration and innovation across supply chains.
These exchanges offered practical insights into improving resource allocation and coordination throughout the supply chain for international projects.
During a panel discussion, representatives of the New Administrative Capital's management authority, HBRC, INCOME, universities and Yunzhu discussed how China and Egypt could work together to build a new international supply chain ecosystem. They exchanged experiences and shared recommendations for future cooperation.
Looking ahead, CSCEC will build on its major projects and network of local partners in Egypt to deepen cooperation across the construction industry value chain. It will promote closer links in technology exchange, resource coordination and talent development, while exploring green and digital supply chain solutions tailored to the Egyptian market.
The event was covered by more than 10 Chinese and foreign media outlets, including Xinhua, CCTV's Yangshipin platform, People's Daily Online, Egyptian Television Network, Al Gomhuria, Akhbar Al-Youm and Al Dostor News.
