The first modular unit of the infectious diseases building at Shenzhen Bao'an District People's Hospital has been successfully installed. The 470,000-square-meter, 2,000-bed project includes facilities for major medical equipment, an infectious disease prevention and treatment center, research spaces, teaching and training facilities, cultural activity areas, and public service amenities.

The hospital uses an integrated system combining GS-Building's prefabricated steel frame, ME-House ward modules, and MiMEP modular MEP systems. The steel frame acts as a permanent building rack built on-site, while ward and MEP modules—built off-site—are slid in like drawers, enabling fast, precise assembly.

As China's first embedded modular hospital, it introduces lateral-sliding module installation. The non-load-bearing modules are over 20% lighter than standard steel units and 40% lighter than concrete ones, improving efficiency and ease of installation.

The project is also China's first fully integrated MEP modular hospital, with more than 95% of ward construction completed off-site in factories.

Leveraging industry-leading intelligent modular manufacturing lines, CSCEC produces wards with automotive-grade precision and standardized processes, controlling manufacturing tolerances within 1.5 millimeters to ensure smooth, seamless on-site installation.

This approach excels in high-standard negative-pressure wards, which use a special system to keep indoor pressure lower than surrounding areas, safely filtering and exhausting contaminated air to prevent cross-infection.

Modular negative-pressure wards fundamentally upgrade this model, offering lower energy consumption, reduced noise, and superior airtightness. Thanks to factory-based precision prefabrication of complete modules, ventilation ducts are integrally manufactured with walls and ceilings. Each ward module undergoes independent, comprehensive airtightness testing before delivery, enabling rapid identification and precise correction of even minute leaks and ensuring that 100% of modules meet stringent standards prior to installation.
