The Guohua Investment Shandong HG14 Offshore 1-gigawatt Photovoltaic Project, built by CSCEC and currently the world's first gigawatt-class offshore PV project, has completed all 930 platform installations and is now nearly ready for grid connection across all sub-arrays.

The project is located in the eastern waters off Kenli District, Dongying City, Shandong Province, China, with a planned capacity of 1,000 MW. CSCEC constructed 930 photovoltaic platforms. Once operational, it will generate about 1.78 billion kWh annually, meeting the yearly electricity needs of approximately 2.67 million urban residents.

Each platform measures 60 meters by 35 meters—roughly five standard basketball courts—and uses a bifacial double-glass design to capture both direct sunlight and sea-surface reflections.

The project uses a "steel pipe pile + steel truss" structure to support platforms weighing about 85 tons. The piles last over 30 years and can withstand winds up to Level 11.

It has also developed China's first technical system for large-scale PV projects—An intelligent construction equipment cluster. Featuring positioning systems, the intelligent leveling and pile-driving platform enables one-touch leveling and installs four steel pipe piles simultaneously per platform. So far, 3,720 piles have been successfully driven.

In addition, an intelligent supervision platform has been established, along with smart tide, wind, and wave forecasting systems, to ensure safe and stable operations.
