At the 24th COMESA (Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa) Heads of State and Govt Summit in Nairobi, CSCEC and COMESA signed a framework agreement for the construction of a headquarters building complex in Lusaka. The signing took place under the witness of Kenyan President William Ruto and other heads of state.
The complex will include a new headquarters building, a conference center, and a mixed-use development zone. The headquarters building itself will span approximately 14,000 m² and house offices, exhibition space, meeting rooms, a library, dining, and medical facilities. The conference center is designed for 1,000 delegates and will occupy about 4,000 m². The mixed-use development zone will feature a four-star or higher hotel, leasing office spaces, and a shopping center, covering an area of about 29,000 square meters. Once completed, it is expected to boost local commercial vitality and enhance the area's appeal to business travelers and tourists alike.
The signing ceremony was covered by Kenya Broadcasting Corporation and other major local media outlets.
