Recently, the 2nd China UHPC Technology Development and Innovation Application Conference was held in Wuhan. The UHPC Curtain Wall Project of the Central Dome in Phase IV of Galaxy Macau, constructed by CSCEC, won the "breakthrough award" in the architecture category, thanks to its innovative material technology performance and optimized construction techniques.
UHPC is a new type of concrete building material designed based on the theory of maximum packing density. It features high ductility, high durability, high compressive strength and aesthetic appeal. This material is mostly widely used in large-span bridges, anti-explosion structures and other fields, while its application in building curtain walls is relatively rare.
The Central Dome in Phase IV of Galaxy Macau is 43 meters high and 48 meters in diameter, with an area equivalent to about 12 standard basketball courts. The structural system is composed of steel structure, UHPC curtain wall, vertical and skylight glass curtain wall. Among them, the UHPC curtain wall successfully realizes the integrated application of decoration and load-bearing in complex irregular structures. This system not only has excellent typhoon resistance, but also meets multiple performance requirements such as weatherproofing, water resistance, fire resistance and high temperature resistance, which helps to extend the service life of the building.
