Located in the Nan'an District of Chongqing, the project has pioneered nature-based solutions, completing comprehensive restoration tasks including mountain protection, water management, forestation, field dredging, lake cleaning, grassland improvement, and the restoration of fluctuation zones. The project has established 24 ecological demonstration sites such as a forest on the dam, bench terraces, homes on the mountain top, rapeseed fields, and grasslands. The variety of plant species on the isle has increased from 383 to 627, and the animal species from 310 to 460 since the restoration.

The UN Decade on Ecosystem Restoration aims to reconstruct, rebuild, and reshape ecosystems. Previously, the Guangyang Isle's ecological restoration initiative was recognized as an innovative base for the concept that "lucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets", and has received numerous international accolades, including the Outstanding Award of the International Federation of Landscape Architects (IFLA) Awards and the World Architecture Festival Awards (Rural Projects).
