The Mahalapye Water Treatment Plant project is located in the town of Mahalapye, about 200 kilometers north of Gaborone, the capital of Botswana. There are about 110,000 residentsin the town, with daily domestic water of 20 megaliters. But the old water plant can only process 16 megaliters at most, far from meeting the water needs of residents. The main construction content of the project is to build a new group of water treatment equipment with a water treatment capacity of 18 megaliters per day, which will increase the water supply capacity of the entire water plant from the original 16 megaliters per day to 34 megaliters per day. To a certain extent, the project has alleviated problem of water shortage for local residents.

"The successful construction of the plant has solved the problem of drinking water shortage for the local people," said Mahalapye City Councillor Sam.

Project engineer Crawford said that the new water plant clarifier adopted a new design concept, which effectively reduced maintenance time and costs, and saved energy. At the same time, the plant has also added activated carbon filtration process and chlorine dioxide disinfection and sterilization process, which greatly improved the quality of water purification.
