The Morodok Techo National Stadium, built by CSCEC, was officially launched on the morning of December 18, Cambodia time. Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Techo Hun Sen and Chinese Ambassador to Cambodia Wang Wentian attended the ceremony, with more than 15,000 people in attendance.
The stadium, located in Phnom Penh, with a construction area of about 80,000 square meters, could accommodate 60,000 spectators, and will be the main venue for the 2023 Southeast Asian Games. The overall design plan, selected by Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen himself, combines the ancient Angkor Wat architectural craftsmanship with the technology independently developed by China.
In constructing the stadium, CSCEC has adopted a large number of new processes, new materials and new technologies. The project team has built two 99-meter herringbone three-dimensional curved fair-faced concrete pylons, with 1000-meter hyperbolic ring beams and the world’s first cable-stayed flexible cable truss canopy system.
