CSCEC-built Zhengxi Expressway extra-long tunnels awarded the 2021 NCE Tunnelling Project of the Year

On December 8, the award ceremony of 2021 NCE (New Civil Engineer) Tunnelling Festival Awards organized by the British Institute of Civil Engineers (ICE) was held in London,. The Guizhou Zhengxi Expressway extra-long tunnels, invested and constructed by CSCEC, stood out from nearly 200 entries around the world and won the 2021 NCE Tunnelling Project of the Year.

NCE Tunnelling Festival Awards conducts comprehensive evaluation from multiple dimensions such as customer satisfaction, design and construction innovative technology, team building, energy conservation and environmental protection, and is a full affirmation of the comprehensive strength of tunnel construction.

Zhengxi Expressway, with a bridge-tunnel ratio up to 64.12%, has a total length of 130 km, consisting of 25 tunnels (with a total length of 34.67km), three extra-long tunnels and four high-gas tunnels. Located in the karst area of Qianbei, Guizhou Province, the expressway is one of the highways with the most complicated geological conditions and the most challenging in construction in Guizhou Province.
