In construction, CSCEC has been exploring a new path of green development through constructing environmentally-friendly buildings to advance ecological civilization.
Paramount Hotel in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates (UAE)
Recently, the Paramount Hotel project in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates, contracted by CSCEC, has received a building completion certificate issued by Dubai Development Authority (DDA), marking the successful acceptance of the project. The project features a large frame-tube structure with 3 floors underground and 65 floors above ground, covering an area of 2,172 square meters, and with a total construction area of 135,400 square meters and a building height of 258 meters, including a five-star hotel and high-end apartments. The project has a total of 776 rooms, including 281 hotels and 495 apartments.
From design to construction, the Paramount Hotel project has always given priority to energy conservation, environmental protection and green buildings. It is the first local project that used aluminum formwork throughout the whole construction process, achieving zero wood on site; in the design process, steel lintel was used instead of traditional reinforced concrete lintel, saving about 430 cubic meters of concrete; LED strip was used to replace 1350 lamp tubes, which is safe, cost saving and environmentally friendly; the first wall atomization spray system in the UAE was created to cool down and prevent dust; taking into account the climate of the UAE, we also adopted curtain wall glass with good insulation and low reflectivity to lower the temperature inside the building while avoiding light pollution to the surrounding buildings and roads. Active technical measures were also adopted to reduce the consumption of building’s air conditioning and lighting energy; in addition, all the construction technology, materials and equipment are in line with the local government’s environmental requirements.

Minying International Trade Center in Dongguan, Guangdong Province
Recently, the 423-meter-high T2 tower of Minying International Trade Center project in Dongguan, contracted by CSCEC, was put into use with a total construction area of 1.04 million square meters.
The whole process from design and construction to operation met the requirements of green buildings. “Free refrigeration system” was adopted, which can effectively save energy by 20%-30%; heat recovery system was applied to save cooling energy consumption; besides, high-performance curtain walls were used to maximize the penetration of sunlight while limiting heat conduction, thereby reducing energy consumption for air conditioning and lighting…… A number of energy conservation and environmental protection measures of the project have become a model of green buildings, and won many awards such as certification from theUS Green Building Council’s Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) and the National Green Construction Demonstration Project.

Zhanjiang Airport
Recently, Zhanjiang Airport, built by CSCEC, has made a successful test flight. After opening, Boeing 787 can take off and land in the airport which will also provide direct flight to Europe and America. In the process of project construction, CSCEC achieved 100% separation of rain and sewage and harmless treatment of garbage were achieved, striving for excellence in green construction; the smart design of the glass curtain wall and roof skylights of the terminal can make the main public areas of the airport adopt natural light, supplement the natural lighting of the large indoor areas, and reduce lighting energy consumption. At the same time, the project designed the first efficient refrigerating machine room of the terminal in high temperature and humidity area in China, which uses the long-distance transportation and distribution distance of chilled water to achieve energy conservation and environmental protection.
