Recently, Botswana President Mokgweetsi Eric Keabetswe Masisi attended the opening ceremony of the Lobatse Water Master Plan (LWMP) project constructed by CSCEC and operated an excavator to shovel at the project site, which demonstrated the official start of the earthworks of the LWMP project. Vice President of Botswana Slumber Tsogwane, government officials, Chairman of CSCEC Botswana, a subsidiary of CSCEC and key project managers attended the ceremony.

At the ceremony, President Masisi said that in order to successfully realize the 2036 Vision of Botswana, the government has increased its investment in infrastructure in recent years, especially in water supply projects related to people’s welfare. The LWMP project is one of the major livelihood projects. After its completion, the water supply capacity would be increased from 14,000 cubic meters per day to 63,000 cubic meters per day, which would completely solve the water shortage in more than 13 towns and villages along the Lobatse pipeline. He stressed that this project has created lots of jobs for Botswana and provided many internship opportunities for local university graduates. He appreciated the responsible spirit, positive attitude and good work of CSCEC and wished the project a succes.

The project is located along the A1 highway from the capital Gaborone to Lobatse and it is a design–build project. Construction mainly includes building a new pump house, 57 km of 900 mm diameter steel pipes and a 16,000 cubic square reservoir.
