On August 16, the largest sponge park-"land of starry sky" in Shanghai, which was built by CSCEC in DBO (Design-Build-Operate) mode, started trial operation. The total area of the project is 540,000 square meters, including 380,000 square meters of land area and 160,000 square meters of water area.
The Lingang Special Area in Shanghai is close to the sea. If typhoon comes, there will be heavy rain and water will be accumulated easily. In order to collect and purify the rainwater, different kinds of breathing sponges to absorb water have been designed to store water, seep water and purify water when it rains, and then the stored water will be released and utilized when necessary.
The park's design features the concept of a sponge city. On the premise of ensuring the safety, drainage and water logging prevention, the natural accumulation, natural infiltration and natural purification of rainwater can be realized to the greatest extent, and rainwater utilization and ecological protection can be promoted. The permeable materials laid in the park, such as permeable bricks and permeable concrete, can make rainwater seep down quickly. The whole park is like a green "sponge" that can absorb, store, seep and purify water.
