Recently, the R1029 Island Project, undertaken by CSCEC, achieved a significant milestone with the successful pouring of the first super transfer floor for the hotel's main building.

The transfer floor consists of 10 transfer beams, with the largest beam measuring 4 meters in height, 2.5 meters in width, and 60 meters in length. The entire floor weighs 4,500 tons, with 530 tons of steel reinforcement, including eight layers of main reinforcing bars made of high-strength steel with a 40mm diameter. This is the first time such a structure has been built with these specifications in terms of span, height, and load capacity, presenting significant construction challenges.

The transfer floor acts as the “hub” linking the building's upper and lower sections, having to bear the weight of dozens of hotel floors while adapting to the island's complex terrain. The team innovatively adopted a special scaffolding system, replacing traditional methods, resulting in a 30% improvement in the stability of the support structure.

To prevent cracking due to temperature fluctuations in the mass concrete, the project team introduced an intelligent temperature control system for the first time. This system keeps the concrete's temperature below 25°C during pouring by adding special materials and using double-layer insulated formwork. This ensures the core temperature does not exceed 80°C, with a strict temperature difference of no more than 20°C between the inside and outside of the floor.

Several other innovative techniques were applied for the first time in the Gulf region, including a 3D rebar innovation process, which disassembles traditionally integrated complex rebar into two 2D flat rebar planes and connects them precisely with sleeve couplers.

Located on a man-made island in Dubai, the project includes a five-star hotel, a luxury apartment, and a commercial center. Once completed, it will become a new landmark in Dubai, providing a major boost to the local tourism industry.
