CSCEC recently held a university open day at its Egypt factory in the China-Egypt TEDA Suez Economic and Trade Cooperation Zone (SETC-Zone).

This year marked the second anniversary of the factory going into operation. More than 140 guests attended the event, including representatives from the Chinese Embassy in Egypt, CSCEC, the Chinese Bridge Club (Cairo Station), and the SETC-Zone, along with students and faculty from Cairo University, Ain Shams University and Suez Canal University. Together, they explored opportunities to strengthen university-industry collaboration.

The event featured a Chinese cultural experience zone, where activities such as guzheng performances, calligraphy demonstrations, traditional stone rubbing, and tea ceremonies drew enthusiastic participation from Chinese and Egyptian youth alike.

Dr. Tarek A. Mekhail, president of New Cairo Technological University, shared his own experiences in China. He praised the country's modernization and encouraged Egyptian students to pursue further studies there.

CSCEC has been operating in Egypt for more than 40 years, delivering landmark projects with high quality — from the CBD in Egypt's New Administrative Capital to the Alamein Downtown Towers in New Alamein City, said Yao Minzhi, a CSCEC representative. The company will keep deepening its partnerships with universities to strengthen collaboration among education, talent development and industry.

Lu Chunsheng, minister counselor at the Chinese Embassy in Egypt, called CSCEC a model for Chinese companies operating in Egypt, citing its active role in advancing educational cooperation between the two countries.

During the event, CSCEC, together with the Chinese Bridge Club (Cairo Station), Cairo University, Ain Shams University, Suez Canal University, Suez University and New Cairo Technological University, unveiled a new internship and employment base linking education, research and industry. This marked a new phase of more institutionalized and long-term cooperation between the two sides.

After the ceremony, faculty and student representatives toured the production workshop, getting an up-close look at smart manufacturing lines and welding robots, and learning about the company's smart construction technologies and technological innovations.

"It was the first time I had seen the advanced equipment I'd only read about in textbooks," one student said. "Seeing the welding robots really showed me the power of smart manufacturing — it will be incredibly valuable for my studies."

The open day showcased the strength and appeal of Chinese construction through real-world demonstrations, strengthened the foundation for local development through university-industry collaboration, and added a new chapter to China-Egypt friendship along the Silk Road through youth exchanges.

CSCEC said it plans to continue strengthening ties with Egyptian universities, creating more opportunities for young Egyptians to develop their careers.
