Recently, the most critical project of the Astana Light Rail Transit, the steel arch bridge spanning the Ishim River, constructed by CSCEC and other companies, has been completed. This milestone lays a solid foundation for the rapid progress of the subsequent phases of the light rail project.

The bridge features a 155-meter basket-handle arch design with both the arch ribs and main girder constructed from steel. The entire bridge uses 2,598 tons of steel specifically designed for high-cold regions. The necessary steel components were pre-fabricated in Tianjin, China, and then transported over 4,600 kilometers via rail and driveway to the construction site, where they were assembled, welded, and hoisted by the builders. This approach significantly enhanced construction efficiency and environmental sustainability.

To date, the Astana Light Rail Transit has nearly completed the construction of all station main structures, including bored piles, pile caps, and pier columns. The pre-fabricated box girders were finished ahead of schedule, and the project is currently in the stage of erecting pre-fabricated box girders and constructing cast-in-place box girders. The civil engineering work is expected to be completed by the end of August this year, achieving full line connectivity for the project.
