Recently, the groundbreaking ceremony for the South Africa's N3 National Road upgrade projects, contracted by a consortium of CSCEC and South Africa's Base Major, was held in Durban. Sindiswe Chikunga, South African Minister of Transport, and others attended the event.
Transport Minister Sindiswe Chikunga pointed out that the N3, with its high passenger flow and heavy freight traffic, is an "economic artery" for South Africa, bearing the national transportation and service functions. It holds extremely significant and far-reaching implications for the South African government. Once completed, it will greatly alleviate the current traffic congestion and facilitate goods transport. The minister stressed that all parties should strictly follow construction requirements, strive for high quality and high standards, turn the project into a quality one, and ensure its delivery as scheduled.
Over 2000 people attended the event, including representatives from the South Africa's Department of Transport, the South African National Roads Agency SOC Ltd, the Ministry of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment, the South African Police Service, local community leaders and residents, as well as company and project staff.
