Guangyang Island is located in the city of Chongqing. Deemed an ecological treasure, it is the largest green island in the Yangtze River and an important ecological barrier.
In March this year, the first phase of the Chongqing Guangyang Island ecological restoration EPC project received the final acceptance. During the past three years, the vegetation coverage rate here has rebounded to more than 90%. Nearly 500 species of animals, including Chinese mergansers (listed as endangered on the IUCN Red List), peregrine falcons, short-eared owls, and white spoonbills, have come to forage and rest while 600 species of plants have flourished, creating a new ecological outlook in the upper reaches of the Yangtze River.
