Recently, Ghana's transportation system improvement project—N1 Highway (Tatale to Yendi section) kicked off its construction. H.E Alhaji Dr. MahamuduBawumia, Ghana's Vice President, Hon. Alhaji Shani Alhassan Shaibu, Northern Regional Minister, Kwasi Amoaku-Attah, Ghana's Minister for Roads and Highways, representatives of the proprietor, CSCEC's representatives attended the groundbreaking ceremony.
Speaking at the event, Ghana's Vice President H.E Alhaji Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia expressed his gratitude for CSCEC's dedication and responsibility, and congratulated it on its achievements. He pointed out that the project is a key livelihood project in Ghana. After completion, it can significantly improve the traffic situation in Northern Province, especially Yendi City, relieve traffic pressure and drive local economic development. The vice president hoped to strengthen communication with CSCEC and relevant units and make joint efforts to promote the high-quality and efficient performance of the project in the next step.
Kwasi Amoaku-Attah, Ghana's Minister for Roads and Highways, recognized CSCEC's high-quality contract performance capability and high sense of responsibility. He also expressed the hope to make joint efforts with the Chinese side to integrate resources and promote the project construction. The project will be combined with the Eastern Corridor Project to transfer traffic flow to the eastern region of Ghana, further improve the interconnectivity of the local main road network, stimulate economic development along the route, increase employment opportunities, and increase the income of local residents.
The N1 Highway project is located in the northeastern region of Ghana, with a total construction length of 61.6 kilometers. The construction includes road design, roadbed and pavement, drainage, and maintenance works. After completion, it will improve the local transportation system in Ghana and promote the economic and trade cooperation between China and Ghana.
