16 CSCEC projects win Tien-yow Jeme Civil Engineering Prize

The winner list of 19th Tien-yow Jeme Civil Engineering Prize was released recently. Sixteen CSCEC projects won the prize, accounting for nearly 40% of the 42 winners this year.

Established by China Civil Engineering Society and Beijing Zhantianyou Development Foundation for Science and Technology in 1999, Tien-yow Jeme Civil Engineering Prize has become the top prize for technical and scientific innovation in China's engineering construction. So far, all together 106 CSCEC projects have won the prize.

Beijing Daxing International Airport (Terminals, Transfer Centers and Parking Buildings)

Beijing Daxing International Airport, known as "the 7th Wonder of the World", began to run in September 2019. As the largest international hub airport, it had the largest independent terminal and the largest aviation catering center in the world. With a localization rate more than 98%, the project has developed more than 40 "firsts" in technology at home and abroad, 103 technical patents and 65 new construction methods.

Tencent Headquarter Building in Beijing

As the largest independent office building in Asia, Tencent Headquarter Building took providing offices and supporting facilities as its functional position. With an area of 334,000 square meters, it integrated an administrative zone, an internet media broadcasting zone, a sporting zone, a staff restaurant and a standard office zone on 7 floors above the ground and 3 floors underground. Another distinguishing feature of the building was its super-large planes, each of which was 22,000 square meters in a single floor.

Western China International Expo City (Phase I)

With a total construction area of 760,000 square meters, Western China International Expo City was located in the core area of Tianfu New Area, Chengdu City, took an area of about 570,000 square meters for the first phase of the project, and was the permanent site of the Western China International Fair and the Western China International Cooperation Forum.

Chengdu Open Air Music Park

Located in Jinniu District, Chengdu City, Chengdu Open Air Music Park covered an area of 395,000 square meters and was known as "silver shells". In the park were a main stage accommodating more than 40,000 persons and other 5 theaters with various themes. The project provided the largest semi-indoor and semi-open-air theater with panoramic sound in the world, and also the only landmark city park featuring an opening air music square in China. The project began in September, 2017 and the park began to run in April, 2019. Besides, the park was chosen as the site of the closing ceremony of the 31st Chengdu 2021 FISU World University Games.

Pakistan PKM Project (Sukkur-Multan Motorway Section)

The 392-kilometer-long Sukkur-Multan Motorway was a section of the largest transportation infrastructure project contracted to build by CSCEC along China-Pakistan Economic Corridor—Pakistan PKM Project. Designed for speeds of up to 120 km/h, the motorway was the first bidirectional six-lane motorway with intelligent transportation functions at the highest design level. This section was handed over and opened to traffic on December 16th, 2020, becoming a part of the north-south transportation artery in the central region of Pakistan and contributing to social and economic development of areas along the motorway.

The other 11 CSCEC projects wining the prize this year were as follows: China • Hongdao International Convention and Exhibition Center(Qingdao), Dawangjing 2# Super-high Building Complex, Terminals and Comprehensive Transportation Center of Qingdao Jiaodong International Airport, Jinqiao Technology Center of Shanghai Stock Exchange, Strait Culture Art Center, Chongqing Jijiang Yangtze River Bridge, Jinan Southeast Second Ring Road Extension Project, the Container Terminal in Yangluo Port Area of Wuhan Port, Tianjin Binhai International Airport Expansion and Supporting Transportation Center, Najing Dingjiazhuang Phase II Indemnificatory Housing on Parcel A28, and Zhuhai Cuihuxiangshan International Garden Parcel 5 (Phase I and Phase II).
