The social housing project in Maldives has 16 buildings and is currently the tallest and largest high-rise residential complex in Maldives, with a total construction area of 468,000 square meters. The project started in December 2017 and was completed in March 2020, and it has improved the living environment for nearly 30,000 people in and around the capital Malé. With a population of 252,768 and an area of 8.30 square kilometres, the population density of Maléhas been reduced from 93,300 inhabitants per square kilometerto 73,300 inhabitants per square kilometer. As more than one-third of Maldivians lives in the capital, the project has greatly eased the housing shortage in Maldives.

With the gradual improvement of the surrounding urban facilities, the complex with a total of 7,000 housing units in Hulhumale Island is becoming a residential and cultural center in Maldives, and a bridge of friendship between China and Maldives.
