Recently, Agoromin, Longor, Lakwanya and Katwotwo areas of Orom Water Supply and Sanitation Project in Uganda successfully passed the preliminary acceptance. Oryem Henry Okello, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs in charge of International Affairs of Uganda, Alfred Okot Okidi, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Water and Environment of Uganda, Northern Umbrella of Water and Sanitation in Uganda, the owner of the project, and the supervision team attended the event and cut the ribbon for the project.
The project is located in northern Uganda, and mainly includes a 176 km main line in Orom subcounty and Kitgum town which connects residents in various places, 11 pump houses and solar electromechanical facilities, 11 high-level steel water tanks, 3 offices for water-related affairs and the procurement of indoor equipment.
At the ceremony, Northern Umbrella of Water and Sanitation receivedthe as-built drawings, main lines and household link pipelines in various regions, and the operation of pump houses in various regions.
Alfred Okot Okidi, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Water and Environment of Uganda, mentioned that the infrastructure conditions in northern Uganda are far behind other areas in Uganda, and the Ugandan government is making great efforts to invest in the construction of livelihood projects in northern Uganda, and the project is one of them. The preliminary acceptance of the project represents an important step in improving people's livelihood in Uganda.
The project not only provided a safe, hygienic and stable drinking water supply for about 2,500 households, greatly improved the drinking water of local residents, but also provided valuable experience for further livelihood project construction in Uganda.
