Xiamen Sports Centre Stadium (Section II) is located in Xiamen, with a total construction area of about 233,900 square meters. It consists of the Phoenix Gymnasium and the White Dolphin Swimming Hall. The Phoenix Gymnasium is the largest single arena under construction in China, which accommodate 25,000 people. After its completion, a series of international and domestic high-level events such as ice hockey, basketball and swimming, will be hosted here. The project officially started on July 1, 2020. At present, the concrete structures of the swimming hall and the training hall have been fully completed.
The project will become a new landmark in Xiamen after its completion, and the 18th Asian Cup will be held here in 2023. As a comprehensive sports venue full of artistic and technological design, it will provide strong support for Xiamen to hold higher-level international sports events.
As a "sea view venue" that can watch games as well as appreciate the sea view, the project has a unique architectural style, which not only draws lessons from the design of the traditional dwellings of southern Fujian, but also incorporates the design of bougainvillea, the city flower of Xiamen. The whole venue is just like the petals of bougainvillea and a flying egret.
