On March 29, CAN joint venture, composed of CSCEC, AS Company, a leading enterprise in Thailand's railway industry, and NAWARAT Patanakarn Public Company Limited (NWR), one of Thailand's largest construction and engineering firms, formally signed the general contract for the 4-3 section of China-Thailand high-speed rail project, with a contract value of about 376 million US dollars. Mr. Saksayam, Transport Minister of Thailand, and relevant principles of Thailand railway agency, China State Construction International Investments Limited, Bank of China (Thai) Public Company Limited and CAN joint venture attended the signing ceremony.
The section 4-3 of Sino-Thai high-speed railway project is one of the nine sections started in Phase I (Bangkok-Khorat) of the Sino-Thai high-speed railway, with a total length of about 23 kilometers. The fund of the project is included in the national budget of Thailand, and the main construction projects include: 23km of the box girder and foundation of the elevated railway, building facilities of the electric train system, the drainage system, the demolition track and other public facilities, and roads to maintenance center, etc.
The Sino-Thai high-speed railway starts from Bangkok, Thailand in the south and connects with China-Laos railway in the north. It is the flagship project of the Belt and Road Initiative jointly built by China and Thailand with high quality, which will strongly promote Thailand's infrastructure construction and economic and social development. The Sino-Thai high-speed railway project is the first high-speed railway built by CSCEC overseas, which also marks that CSCEC has officially entered a new field of overseas high-speed railway construction.
