The terminal area of Chengdu Tianfu International Airport, designed and built by CSCEC (China State Construction Engineering Corporation), was completed today.

As the largest civil transport hub in China, Chengdu Tianfu International Airport is also a international aviation hub, as well as the highest-ranking airport in the Silk Road Economic Belt. After being put into use, it will meet the target of having an initial capacity of 40 million passengers, 700,000 tons of cargo and mail throughput and 350,000 aircrafts take-off and landing by 2025.

It took 1200 days to complete the construction of T1 terminal building of Chengdu Tianfu International Airport, which covers an area of 126,000 square meters and a building area of 387,400 square meters. During the construction of T1 terminal building, 5,409 pile foundations with a total length of about 72,000 meters were used, and more than 1.6 million cubic meters of earthwork were excavated. The curtain wall project of T1 terminal building has 4 floors with a height of about 40 meters. The total area of the curtain wall is about 270,000 square meters, of which the glass curtain wall covers an area of 100,000 square meters, all of which meet the green "three-star" energy-saving building standard.

Feather-shaped suspended ceiling is used in the lobby of the terminal building, which is 408 meters long, 67 meters wide and 13 meters high, symbolizing the feather of the the sun bird (solar divine bird), which echoes the overall shape of the "solar divine bird" at Tianfu International Airport.

In addition, Tianfu International Airport has the first PRT system in Asia and the second in the world. Self-driving passengers can reach the GTC between terminals T1 and T2 in 5 minutes by PRT vehicles, and public transport passengers such as high-speed rail and subway can walk to the terminal in 5-8 minutes.
