On September 2, the President of Egypt Abdel Fattah el-Sisi who had come to Beijing to participate in Beijing Summit of the China-Africa Cooperation Forum held a high-level China-Egypt Economic and Trade Forum. Witnessed by the President el-Sisi, China State Construction respectively signed a 3.5-billion-US-dollar EPC contract for the Central Business District Phase II Project of the new capital city of Egypt with the Investment and International Cooperation Ministry of Egypt and a 6.1-billion-US-dollar EPC contract for the Egyptian Suez Refining and Petrochemical Plant Project with Egypt Eastern Oil and Gas Company.

The Central Business District Phase II Project of the new capital city of Egypt is adjacent to the Central Business District Phase I Project. It consists of over 20 commercial and residential buildings and supporting building complexes. The gross floor area is 1,800,000 square meters. After the construction of the Central Business District of the new capital city of Egypt is completed, the district will be the core area of the new capital city with the highest commercial values and the strongest comprehensive functions in the new capital city of Egypt. It will greatly relieve the population and traffic pressure in Cairo, drive the development of the Suez Canal Economic Belt and the Red Sea Economic Belt in Egypt and facilitate the implementation of the “National Revival Plan” of the Egyptian government. The Suez 8,000,000t Refining and Petrochemical Plant Project in Egypt is within the Suez Canal Economic Development Zone constructed under the China-Egypt Cooperation. After the project is completed, it will greatly improve the refining and petrochemical product production and export capabilities of Egypt, promote the industrial upgrade and rapid development of Egyptian economy, drive the export of the equipment, technology and standards of the Chinese petrochemical industry and set a new China-Egypt energy cooperation example for the implementation of the Belt and Road Initiative. 

China State Construction has worked very hard for 34 years in Egypt. It has completed a lot of cooperative projects between the governments of China and Egypt, such as the Sadat City Project, the Alexandria City Project, the Chinese School Assistance Project in Egypt, the Suez Investment and Service Building Assistance Project in Egypt, the Rural School Assistance Project in Egypt and the Chinese Culture Center Assistance Project in Cairo, including the Cairo International Convention Center Assistance Project in Egypt, which is a landmark building in Egypt and symbolizes the China-Egypt friendship.
